My building manager e-mailed me first thing this morning, and said pest control is doing my floor and all the units on it every Thursday, since there have been problems, and that she’s asking the one hotel whether they can put me up.
Last night, when I couldn’t sleep, I read a million more things about bedbugs than I already had, and there was a nice Canadian site that gave very Canadian tips about treating these. It was like, “Stay calm. We know it’s hard, but don’t panic or try to just sleep in the bathtub or go to a neighbour’s to sleep while this is happening. The bugs stay close to their food source (you), so if you move to a different room in your house they will follow you and hide in places they haven’t been, which makes them harder to find and kill–it’s better if they stay in one place.” They also mentioned that if you sleep in a different building, it will be harder to know whether the treatment is working because the best indicator is whether you’re still getting bitten–bedbugs can live for more than a year without food (WHAT IS THE FUCKING PURPOSE OF THESE GODDAMN THINGS THAT FEED ONLY ON BLOOD AND NEVER NEED TO EAT AND ARE FLAT SO THEY’RE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND AND DAMN NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO KILL?!??!?!?!!?!?!)
Anyway, she said she’ll ask the hotel about getting me a room, and I’ve packed a little bag in case I can go, but I’ll understand if they don’t want someone with a pest problem staying in their building. But last night I was up from midnight till 4:00 fucking terrified. I finally exhausted myself crying and freaking out enough that I fell back asleep at 4:30 and woke up at 6:30, after dreaming of bedbugs
